In this page, you will find a tutorial about backup and insert savegames for GTA IV, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, PC versions.
Backup savegames
GTA - Backup puts your backed up saved games in a backup folder in the save location as your saved games. In this folder there is a child, parent, grand parent and archive structure. Child backups are your most recent, then parent backups, then grand parent backups followed by archive backups which are compressed to save space. I don't know if there are more efficient ways but what I did was go and create 2 files on my desktop, one called 'GTA V Modded' and the other 'GTA V Unmodded'. Then I copied the game files from an unmodded game into the unmodded folder, and then start modding the game. Whenever I want to play online, I just cut and paste the modded game files.
To backup all your savegames, you must backup these folders:
Windows XP:
'C:Documents and SettingsYOUR NAMELocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftXLive'
'C:Documents and SettingsYOUR NAMELocal SettingsApplication DataRockstar Games'
'C:Documents and SettingsYOUR NAMELocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftXLive'
'C:Documents and SettingsYOUR NAMELocal SettingsApplication DataRockstar Games'
Windows Vista and Windows 7:
'C:UsersYOUR NAMEAppDataLocalMicrosoftXlive'
'C:UsersYOUR NAMEAppDataLocalRockstar Games'

VERY IMPORTANT
If you use Wrapper or Xliveless, you could not play in official multiplayer.

I want to mod GTA V but I still want to be able to play online and deactivate my mods, and have a vanilla backup I can use instead of reinstalling. I have the NON-steam version, how would I back it up?
Also, is there a mod manager that is popular for this game where I can activate/deactivate mods or change my load order? is there a launcher that can launch 'modded' gta or vanilla GTA? I'm just looking for some advice on what tools to use and how to go about using them on this game, as it does not seem to be as simple as fallout is, with Nexus and mod organizer. Thanks in advance.
